Use 8 ply yarn, hook size 3.75 mm.
Crochet tightly to create a small stiff basket.
The base of the baskets shown are 4.5 cm wide, and 5 cm tall to the top (not including handle).
R1: Create Magic Ring with primary color. Ch. 2, 10 hdc into ring, join with sl. st. to first hdc (10 sts.)
R2: Ch. 1, 2 hdc into each st., join with sl. st. (20 sts.)
R3: Ch. 1 *1hdc, 2 hdc in next st.,* repeat around, join with sl. st. (30 sts.)
R4: Ch. 1, *working through back loops only: 4 hdc, 2 hdc in one st.* repeat around, join with sl. st. (36 sts.)
R5: Ch. 1, *working through both loops again: 8 hdc, 2 hdc in one st.* repeat around, join with sl. st. (40 sts.)
R6: Ch. 1, hdc around, join with sl. st.
R7: Change colors, ch. 1, hdc around, join with sl. st.
R8: Change colors, Ch. 1, hdc around, join with sl. st.
R9: Change colors, ch. 1, hdc around, join with sl. st.
R10: Change back to primary color, ch. 1, hdc around, join with sl. st.
R11: Ch. 35 tightly, skip 20 sts., join with sl. st., sl. st. around back to starting point (make sure chain is flat, not twisted, before joining), break yarn and fasten off.
Re-join on opposite side of basket from finished half and repeat the sl. st. around on this side, break yarn, fasten off.
