Parker Baby Booties and Matching Hat

This pattern comes from here... I've saved it to my blog so I don't lose it.

I used Lincraft Cuddles yarn. 4mm crochet hook for the booties and 5.5mm hook for the hat.

Baby Booties

Materials:

–Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn (Weight: 4/Medium, 3.5 oz/100g, 170 yds/156 m)

(You will use less than half a skein for this pattern)

–Size H 5mm crochet hook 

–Tapestry needle

Crochet Parker Baby Booties

Ch 10, Sc in 2nd chain from hook, Sc in next 7, make 5 Sc in the last chain
Turn your work to stitch in other side of foundation Ch, Sc 8, sl st to join, ch 2

Fold over bootie cuff (rounds 17-20) – you don’t need to sew the cuff down but you may if you are worried about it shifting.

Materials:

• 2 colours 8ply 100% wool
• 6mm size hook
• 5mm size hook
• Tapestry Needle

Directions:

Hat
Rnd 1: With main colour yarn and 6mm hook, ch 3. Make 8 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. (8 hdc)

Rnd 2: 2 hdc in each st around. (16 hdc)

Rnd 3: (2 hdc in next st, hdc in following st) around. (24 hdc)

Rnd 4: (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts) around. (32 hdc) SMALLEST SIZE ONLY, skip to straight section.

Rnd 5: (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts) around. (40 hdc) MIDDLE SIZE ONLY, skip to straight section.

Rnd 6: (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts) around. (48 hdc)

Straight Section
Rnd 7: slip stitch into next stitch, ch 3 (this as first dc), dc in same stitch, ch 1, 2dc in same stitch, skip 3 stitches, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next stitch, repeat from * to beginning chain. Slip Stitch to join at top of ch 3.

Rnd 8: Slip Stitch to ch 1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2dc) in first chain 1 space, (2dc, 1 ch, 2dc) in each ch 1 space around. Slip stitch to join at top of ch 3.

Rnd 9 - 12: Repeat Rnd 8. Finish off.

Edge: Join using contrast colour between 2 shell patterns, ch1. *(dc, ch 1 in 1 chain space) 3 times, slip stitch into space between next 2 shell patterns, ch 1. Repeat from * around, making last slip stitch into beginning of round to close. Finish off.

Crochet flower

Rnd 1: Using contrast colour and 5mm hook, ch 5, join to form ring

Rnd 2: Make 10 sc into ring. Slip stitch into 1st sc

Rnd 3: (Ch 5, skip next stitch, sip stitch into next stitch) 5 times. Slip st into first stitch to join.

Rnd 4: Into loops made by chain (sc, 5dc, sc) 5 times to form petals. Slip stitch to join

Rnd 5: (At front of flower slip stitch between the two petals at the ring, ch5) 5 times.

Finish off, attach to hat with a button and weave in ends.

Crochet Baby Blanket

I love to crochet.  I made this for my baby girl...

To make I used this basic pattern, changing colours and adding 3 more rounds, keeping pattern the same, to each square-

Round 1:
ch 6, form ring.
ch 3, 15 dc in ring, join in top of ch 3

Round 2:
ch 6, dc in same st, dc in next 3 sts, *(dc, ch 3 dc) in next st, dc in next 3 sts
repeat from * around, join in 3rd ch of ch 6.

Round 3:
Ch 3 (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 3 sp, dc in each st with (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each 3 ch sp, join in top of 3 ch.

Make enough squares until you have the size you want.
Join squares by placing 2 wrong sides together and using a single crochet in each stitch.
Then join rows of squares the same way.
Add a few rows of dc around the whole finished blanket keeping the corner pattern the same.
For the final row, use a shell edge of sc, dc in same stitch, dc, sc in next stitch, ch 1, miss one stitch, repeat.  For corners sc, 5 dc, sc.

Baby Mobile

I made this for my baby girl's room just after she was born.

It's easy and looks so gorgeous in her room.

To make it you will need -

1 wooden circle frame

1 small ring (plastic or metal)

3m cord

4 felt squares of different colours

shape patterns 5-6cms (I used stars, hearts & flowers)

craft paint

craft glue

wadding

knitting cotton

string

large eye needle

(I found all of these things at Spotlight)

• Paint the wooden frame with a couple of coats of craft paint.
• Cut the cord into 3 x 1m lengths (use sticky tape to stop ends fraying).
  
• Cut 2 of each shape from each felt colour.
• Glue the dot shapes to the centre of both sides for the flower shapes.
  
• Chose the six shapes you wish to use as the bottom level.
• Using the knitting cotton and needle, sew close to the edges using running stitch.  When a small opening remains fill with a little wadding, put the end of the cord inside the shape, then stitch the gap making sure you catch the cord with one of the stitches.  End off with a knot on the inside.  Repeat five times for the bottom level shapes.
• Sew the remaining 6 shapes in the same way on into the cord with a 10 - 15cm space from shape on the end making sure to stitch top and bottom to the cord.  Slightly different space lengths give it a more random look.
• Attach the 3 cords to the ring by folding them in half, placing the loop through the ring and pulling both ends through.
• Once the paint is completely dry on the frame, wind each cord length around the frame twice, leaving about 15 - 20cm from the ring to the frame.
• Attach a length of string to the ring so it can hang from the ceiling.

This is fun to make for your own baby.  Or make it as a gift for a baby shower or newborn.  There's something extra special about handmade gifts!
